Where everyone has a seat at the table

Omaha Table Talk promotes informal gatherings of people of different races and cultures. Over dinner,
we discuss our differences,
discover our similarities,
develop new friendships,
and appreciate the gifts we each bring to the table.
We leave richer. Our community is a better place.

Award from the City of Omaha's Human Rights and Relations Department

Frequently asked questions...

What? Our goal is to promote understanding and harmony by bringing together people of different races and ethnic backgrounds in a social setting where they can share their thoughts, experiences and questions about culture and race.

How? Eight to ten people gather for dinner in host homes and are invited to talk and to listen to each other about how racial and cultural differences impact their lives. A trained facilitator paces the evening and ensures that everyone has an opportunity to share as they wish.

Why? We recognize that lack of knowledge and appreciation of others' races, culture and customs contributes to intolerance and bigotry. We believe that understaning can lead to greater respect for others and help to eliminate prejudice.

When? Register between August and October, 2010, for the next Omaha Table Talk dinner, to be held TBA.
Participants will be contacted by October 9th with details: Host will receive guests and facilitator list, guests will receive location of host home or community sites and directions. Facilitators should have their orientation date and guest list.

If you have any questions, contact A'Jamal Byndon at office 561-7594 or cell phone 980-9095.

Who? People like you and your neighbors. People of different races, religions, nationalities, and cultures. People who would like to be understood and understand others better. People who would like to help eliminate racism. People who would like to experience a memorable evening.

Time? Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
