Where everyone has a seat at the table

Omaha Table Talk promotes informal gatherings of people of different races and cultures. Over dinner,
we discuss our differences,
discover our similarities,
develop new friendships,
and appreciate the gifts we each bring to the table.
We leave richer. Our community is a better place.

Do you sometimes find yourself wishing that you could just sit down and exchange views and experiences with someone from a different racial or ethnic group?

Would you like to establish a continuing bond of communication in the pursuit of racial understanding? Would you like to understand and communicate better with people different from you?

Are you ready to take an interesting new step toward learning about your fellow Omaha residents?

If so, Omaha Table Talk has an invitation for you. You can take this interesting new step by registering for the next round of Omaha Table Talk dinners. Watch for upcoming events.

You and up to nine other people of diverse backgrounds will gather for dinner at the home of a Table Talk host. A trained facilitator will guide a discussion topic designed to encourage all to talk about their experiences, feelings and perceptions as they pertain to the issues of race and culture.

A simple meal is served. The conversation continues, with the facilitator making sure that everyone has a chance to speak and that all are treated with courtesy. Sometimes the conversation elicits laughter. At other times it turns solemn. But at evening's end, it is not unusual for participants to plan to meet again on their own.

And always, the event comes to a close with hearty handshakes, hugs and promises to keep the spirit of the evening alive.

We at Omaha Table Talk are confident that lives are being changed by the openess and understanding that are cultivated at these dinners. Our community has too long tolerated the barriers that have come between citizens. Omaha Table Talk offers a practical way to bring down the barriers and build a more understanding society.
