"The evening was a huge success! Everyone came away feeling validated, yet with a new appreciation and understanding of different perspectives. It was a great forum to ask questions and share ideas without ridicule. I look forward to future dinners!" – Terri McFarland

The Mission of Omaha Table Talk®

Our Mission is to bring together people of diverse racial and ethnic groups in a social setting to share perspectives regarding race relations and the impact of ethnicity on relationships, with a goal to promote harmony for all.

How? In the setting of host homes, eight to ten guests have dinner and are invited to speak openly, to listen and to learn how race impacts our daily lives. A facilitator paces the evening and makes sure that everyone has an opportunity to share.

"People in Omaha, and probably everywhere, need opportunities such as this to engage with people of different colors and experiences. How else are we to expand our understanding of each other and live better together?" – Mace Hack/p>

Why? Omaha Table Talk is an initiative of the Catholic Charities Social Justice Committee, which works to create hope through education, empowerment and advocacy. Omaha Table Talk is open to all and your involvement can be as a participant, a host or a facilitator.

"What a wonderful opportunity. I appreciate the chance to have a form for exchanging ideas on sensitive subject matters." – April Christensen

When? Omaha Table Talk is held on the Thursday following Martin Luther King Day. Registration will open November 1st with a reservation deadline of mid-December.

"I liked the coming together with different people who had courage to talk. Being welcomed into an open-minded group that was/is ready to share individual perspectives on problems/solutions surrounding racism in Omaha. What a wealthy person I am for attending this event!" – Karen Tibbs
